An Innovative Process in Food Waste Management

In the U.K. a new process has surfaced that takes food waste and turns it into nutrient-rich fertilizer in just 72 hours. It’s then being ‘ploughed back into the soil to grow more food.’

Please see: http://www.vertal.co.uk – it explains the process, the technology, and the potential (read: success!) at reducing landfill waste.

* Process can be done locally to save on transport / hauling costs.
* The process is the fastest of its kind in the world – from kitchen to crop in just 72 hours.
* The fertilizer product is rich in nutrients, so farmers can break their dependence on the oil industry and costly petrochemicals.
* It’s the most carbon efficient. In the next 12 months, their Mitcham plant alone will offset over 18,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. That’s the same as turning the whole of central London over to forestry … every year.
